Published as part of the SMEIP (Supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation of Innovation Programmes) project, the Smart Innovation Guide is designed to assist practitioners in the evaluation of innovation programmes, in particular, those at the regional and national and EU-wide levels. This guide makes the case for effective evaluation of all innovation programmes and as such is considered an invaluable tool in the hands of all those dealing with innovation programmes. Taking into account that the complexity of innovation programmes needs to reflect the design and implementation of the evaluation that might follow, the guide aims to shed light on whether the programmes reached their objectives and how efficiently and effectively they fared.
