- Analysis of the Bologna (IT) PLATON event
The National launch of the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in Italy took place on the 19th January in Bologna. An officer of the European Commission - DG Research presented the topics of the work programme for the year 2007. - Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) announces year of the Humanities
The science year 2007 will be the year of the Humanities. Since the beginning of the legislative period, the BMBF made clear that the strengthening of the humanities and cultural sciences have a high significance in its task. The BMBF wants to take concrete measures in strengthening the Humanities; therefore 2007 starts the conception "Freedom for research of the humanities". At an international level it includes the participation of the Humanities in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

- The Knowledge Economy in Europe
The Work Foundation has prepared a report for the 2007 EU Spring Council intended to contribute to the public debate surrounding the knowledge economy in Europe. The report details the current state of Europe's knowledge economy.
